In 2008 a man named Gary Vaynerchuk started something called good people day. This year is the third year of it's existence and since I think its such a great idea, I'm going to start participating in this hopefully annually.
When it came time to decide who I was going to write about for good people day I was faced with a conflict, I could choose someone that no one had ever heard about, or I could choose someone a little more well known but still not famous. I know many people who I think would be a great fit for good people day, but at the end of the day I came to realize the person who I admire most and that I think is insanely awesome, isn't a person, it's a group of people.
These people have been hit with some of the worst punches life can throw, but for they most part they remain happy and motivated, they are strong, they endure and push themselves through some of the most torturous procedures. These are the men and women who come so close to staring death in the face, but they keep on fighting. I think everyone can learn a lot from these people, about dedication, priorities, and sheer strength.
The amazing men and women that I chose for good people day 2010 are the individuals that are currently battling cancer, those who have beaten cancer, those who have been lost to cancer, and the families of those great people. I urge all of you to make a donation to the American Cancer Society or to join a nearby Relay for Life and help these people. If you see one of these people, try to give them support because every little bit helps them. So to all those who fight cancer, and their families, keep fighting, I've learned some of the most important things I know about life from those individuals, and I think we should all learn from them because they can teach us a great deal about ourselves.
