Spring Break Hangover

Posted: March 15, 2010 in Uncategorized
I just finished my spring break and am finally back at school, and I have noticed that every time I get off a break I have a period of a few days where I am less than 100%. I find myself thinking slower, falling behind with assignments, and in general becoming lazier, but this year I have yet to notice it. I think the reason behind this could be that I organized myself before spring break, and set deadlines to finish various projects in the days immediately after spring break ended. This had a two fold effect, I relaxed pretty hard during spring break, but when I got back, I had no option or time to slack. I found myself right on the ball and working my butt off. I finished a bunch of research for a formal lab report I'm working on in a group. I have about 300 words left to write in my Art Appreciation paper, and I have finished my physics homework due at the end of this week. I also have a midterm for my organic chemistry lab tomorrow night that I feel fairly confident about, along with a physics exam on Wednesday and a recombinant DNA midterm on Thursday. For some odd reason I don't find myself freaking out about them. I think that having a plan is the greatest thing on earth, because then it makes daunting tasks seem very manageable. In addition to that I've finished my march madness bracket (see below). The rule of thumb here is that you should always make a plan before you approach any problem. I have decided to write out a plan every night for the next day before I go to bed, and following that plan. My goal is to experiment with the plan and then write my response to working with the idea, and modifications that I found beneficial along with various flaws I find.

My March Madness Bracket, I had to pick Ohio State because they are my team, and last time I picked them getting to the finals they made it that far. I didn't have much time this year to research the bracket, so I made most of my picks from my gut. If you want to make really accurate picks I would suggest picking based on Vegas odds, they are usually decided later in the week and have a ton of research behind them.

I hope you guys that are starting spring break have a great break, and if you are getting back to school, have a great semester.
